Vanessa from Germany
Thank you for your lovely email! Sorry that I did not write earlier but our Internet is still broken and now I am writing from an Internet Cafe. Yes, I am home again. My flight back was really good and my parents were also happy to see me again.
I had a wonderful time in LA! Everything was perfect and there was so much to see around there that I could only spend a few time at home and with you. :( However, I enjoyed living with you. You are a nice family
and I had a lot of fun. Your food was also very good! :) Keep going on like that. I am sure you soon will find more interested, friendly hoststudents.
Besides thank you for the lovely card. I was really sad that I could not really say goodbye to all of you.
I am really missing you and LA...
Probably I come back one day, I liked it too much! :)
Nice regards to Valentin, Olga and all the family! I keep in touch :)

Pernillie and Dina From Denmark
We had the pleasure of entertaining Pernillie last Oct. She came to our home with her friend Dina. We enjoyed the two young ladies.
Hi Anura!
My name is Pernille and I am the friend of Dina the Dannish girl who will stay with you from October the 3rd until November the 3rd. She told me that you still have one room available that I can have.
I hope it is okay and that I still can have the room.
I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully stay in your house during October!

Lisa From Hamm Germany
The Lawson Family had the pleasure of hosting Lisa from Germany last summer. We miss You Lisa!!!
Dear Anura,
"Hey Mrs Lawson, I would like to come in July. I will book the
vacation on Wednesday, when I get back from my class trip.
I am 15 years old, and I come from Hamm in Germany and have 3
brothers. The youngest is called Moritz, he is 14 years old. Jan is 22
years old and a student, he still lives in our house. My 3rd brother
is 26 years old, but he lives somewhere else. My mother is called
Gerda and 51 years old and an English teacher and my father is 52
years old and works in an office.
We also have some pets (4 cats and a little dog).
My interests are dancing, watching dvd's and of course going to America.
I'm vegetarian (I don't eat meat and fish). I actually eat almost
every kind of vegetables (I just don't like garlic).
I'm glad that you can pick me up from the airport and drop me off. I
am very happy to see LA.
I'll see you in summer!"
Dina from Denmark
At the beginning of the school year we had the pleasure of hosting Dina from Denmark. Dina was interested in an internship. We secured her an internship at my school site.
Hii :) my Internet has not been working until now, so I was not able to reply.. but thank you so much for having called the place.. it means a lot to me.. I went to your website, under "places to go" and located the different places on the map in respect to your home address.. and Universal Studios does not seem very far.. and the transportation possibilities seem to be many.. however, I cannot find an e-mail or address on their website.. I would love it if it was possible to be an intern there.. could you please see if you can either get a hold of their address or e-mail so I would be able to send my application..
Another thing that I hope will be okay.. Friday was the last day of school for the 3rd year students and we all received information about upcoming exams and about the weeks prior to and after the internship period.. we were told that it is very necessary to stay here the week before, as it is called international week and there are many different activities and we somehow start and end a completely new,exam-related subject, Business Law.. therefore I am going to be a bother by asking you if it is possible for me to change the date from September 30th - October 27th to October 3rd (night) - November 3rd.. it is very likely that a class mate of mine will be coming as well, as she might be able to live with a family friend, also near Beverly Hills and she has lived in Seattle for a year before starting Niels Brock's College here.. it is not for certain, but I have talked about my excitement about the trip so much that I think she is also kind of hooked on the idea :) but if she comes, we can even try to go some places when the dates do not fit you.. I would love to see San Diego and Las Vegas and so on, so I hope that we can solve any problems by doing this or such.. - I will pay the remaining amount in a few days, but I will wait with the plane tickets till my friend is sure about whether she can stay at her friend's house or not.. :)
I have written an application and the only thing that is missing is perhaps a section about why I would like to become an intern in the specific company.. I will send this along with a CV and the internship brochure and contract we have received, to the companies.. I still only have Universal Studios in mind, and I do not know if they even accept interns, but it is worth a shot anyway :) I would really appreciate it if you could try to locate them for me :)
I looked at the shops on Rodeo Drive and it hit me that, they are exactly just that; shops.. I am not sure if I would even be able to do anything that is "required of me" in a shop.. I have worked in shops here and it is just being at service for the customers and making sure that the store is neat and tidy and everything is in its place - which is not that business related.. of course, I will try to find some other companies, and I have also asked my brother if he knows companies in Beverly Hills or nearby, that will be interesting and educating for me.. hopefully I will get a reply soon :)
In my application, I have written that I am not hard to please regarding tasks and so on because obviously I am realistic enough to know that it is very unrealistic to expect for anyone to give me any major meaningful tasks as a 17 year old staying there for 3 weeks.. however, I try to stretch that it is a learning experience for me, not costing them anything and maybe I should even say that it is also a way of promotion for them.. because, when we return, some of us do many presentations about our internships to the school and to visitors from other schools.. I am always one of the presenters and as it is the largest school in Copenhagen and it is filled with young people who also travel a lot, it is great promotion for them for me to tell about my experiences etc. I will work a bit more on this when I am home :) I really hope that Universal accept interns..
I will write you soon.. Have a wonderful day :)
